There are many great historical Cities in the world to see some of them are natural and man-made wonders. These places of glory narrate the story of the past and help us learn about human history.  This list of place of history is suggested for the traveller who is interested in history and culture should try to visit these places. Some of these places also named in New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007 and they rightly deserve to be them.

Machu Picchu, Peru

Mysterious ruins of Machu Picchu, is a magnificent Example of history and civilization of South America. This is one of the most striking and mysterious historical place in the world. This majestic city located in the Urubamba Valley in Peru which is 80 kilometres northwest of Cusco and through which the Urubamba River flows. Standing 2,430 m above sea level, in the midst of a tropical mountain forest Machu Picchu was maybe the most remarkable urban creation of the Inca Empire. This most stunning historic place was unidentified to this world till 1911 when an American historian Hiram Bingham rediscovered the place and in 1983 this place was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. In 2007 it was included in the voting list of New Seven Wonders of World. Machu Picchu is attracting tourists every year from all over the world so if you are adventurous and like mystery then plan to visit Machu Picchu.

The Pyramids of Giza built in the 4th Dynasty is a most significant historical place and also an main tourist attraction of Egypt.  Giza is the most renowned for its most remarkable historical architecture in the world. The most significant place in Giza is a complex of ancient Egyptian sacred structures, with the Great Sphinx, the Great Pyramid of Giza, and a number of other large pyramids and temples. The Pyramids of Giza are the most popular monuments of ancient Egypt. They are the only surviving Ancient Wonder of the World and famous tourist attraction, Giza also hosts many festivals and cultural activities such as Verdi's Aida, an opera performed right in front of the pyramid each October. The Great Pyramid of Giza is the last surviving member of the Seven Wonders of the World, and the reason most people visit Egypt today. 





Petra, Jordan

The historical city of Petra is situated between the Red Sea and the Dead Sea in Jordan. Historic heritage that is so beautiful and amazing it’s called the Red Rose City of Petra. Petra, a vast and exceptional city of Jordan, is the most historical treasure and supreme tourist attraction.  Since the year of 1985, Petra has been referred to as a “UNESCO World Heritage Site. Due to its splendid magnificence and fabulous ruins, Petra is one of the “Seven Wonders of the World, must visit on any traveller’s list. The lost City of Petra is described as being the capital of the people known as the “Nabateans”. You will notice many different structures shaped from the red rocks of the mountain which the city sits on the slope of. You will also discover many different temples, a collection of obelisks, as well as many altars upon which many sacrifices were made throughout the historical City of Petra. Petra takes to the magical world of splendour with its different and strange rock colours and stone structures.

Athens is also home to an significant biblical site and numerous historic Greek Orthodox churches, more than one mosque, and several modern religious sites. The historical centre of Athens is the most important area of the city for the thousands of tourists who are visiting the Greek capital in order to admire the shrine of Democracy the Acropolis, the Parthenon, the museums and the monuments and theatres from the glorious past of Athens. Athens has many neoclassical buildings like the Athens Academy, the National Library, The Historical museum, the Archaeological museum and many others mainly at the streets of Panepistimiou, Stadiou, Athinas, Patission (28 October street), around Omonia square and in the area of Plaka where located the first university of Athens and many neoclassical houses . The Acropolis Hill, popularly referred to as the Sacred Rock, is one of Europe’s most enduring monuments and in many ways is regarded as a symbol of the city of Athens. In fact, the whole of Athens is replete with many architectural marvels and some of the most enduring historical landmarks of the city.


Agra, India

Agra, a historical City of India, was once the capital city of great muhgal empire. Agra has long been associated with Muslim rulers. But before the Sultanate rule and the coming of the Mughals, the city of Agra today has changed into an admired Tourist Destination for Travelers around the world for its famous historical monuments. Taj Mahal in Agra is the live icon this tradition some of which are popular under the UNESCO's world heritage site and with the Taj Mahal as one of the seven wonders of the world, Tourists, The Mughal empire ruled from Agra and endowed it with many fine buildings and monuments such as Agra Fort, which contains grand halls and palaces and the tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, a model for the Taj Mahal. Agra city is known for its Taj Mahotsav (Taj Festival). This cultural festival is held every year in the month of February. The Taj Mahotsav brings traditional Indian music and dance on a single platform for the tourist to relish.
